Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Audemars Piguet will open one of its largest flagship stores in Asia at the New World Tower in Central Hong Kong, betting on strong demand from the region's growing wealthy community. According to people familiar with the matter, Audemars Piguet will occupy an area of about 13,000 square feet in this building under New World Development, with a monthly rent of more than HK$2 million. Since the incident was not disclosed, people familiar with the matter requested anonymity. Audemars Piguet will take over from Emperor Watch & Jewellery. The latter's lease expires in February next year. According to people familiar with the matter, Audemars Piguet will also rent a store of about 7,000 square feet in the nearby Hengyi Building, with a monthly rent of about HK$1 million. They said the space will be turned into an experience store to showcase Audemars Piguet's brand heritage and rare collections.
