Alcon Acquires Neurotech Pharmaceuticals for $550 Million

11:44 PM EDT, 10/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Alcon (ALC.SW) acquired Neurotech Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company developing therapies for chronic eye diseases, for $550 million, according to a Tuesday release. The acquisition expands the Swiss eye care company's retinal disease portfolio with Neurotech's Encelto, the only US Food and Drug Administration-approved treatment for adults with Macular Telangiectasia Type 2 (MacTel), a rare, progressive retinal disease that can cause irreversible central vision loss. Alcon said it may also make additional contingent payments tied to commercial milestones.
