Meta raised capital expenditure expectations and increased AI bets, and the stock price rose after the market. Meta Platforms Inc. raised capital expenditure expectations and announced plans to launch a new class of non-voting shares, further bolstering already huge artificial intelligence bets. The social media giant said when it released its quarterly earnings report on Wednesday that the 2026 capital expenditure is expected to be between 135 billion and 145 billion US dollars, raising the lower limit of the range from 130 billion US dollars. Meanwhile, the new class of shares will be distributed to existing investors in the form of stock dividends. Meta said that for every share held, holders will receive a new share, which is essentially equivalent to a “one split in two” split. The company expects the new shares to begin trading in January. The arrangement will also be a tool to drive further expansion of Meta, which Meta said will be used to raise capital, employee compensation, and potential acquisitions. Meta shares rose more than 3% after the market on Wednesday. By the close of the New York market on Wednesday, the stock was up about 6% this year.
