Recently, a new study published in the “Lancet” sub-journal showed that fatty liver disease affects nearly half of Chinese adults. The large-scale Chinese community liver health study included 25,000 people and was published in the “Lancet - Gastroenterology and Hepatology” journal by Qi Xiaolong's team at Southeast University: Fatty liver disease and liver fibrosis are common among adults in China. The prevalence of fatty liver disease is as high as 43.7%, and the prevalence of liver fibrosis is 4.4%. Metabolic abnormalities and alcohol are key influencing factors. Multi-factor analysis showed that men, advanced age, alcohol use, overweight, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, abnormal blood lipids, and an increase in the number of cardiovascular metabolic risk factors were all independently related to increased liver hardness and fatty liver disease. Among them, abnormal metabolism and heavy drinking are important influencing factors; people with long-term drinking habits must pay attention, especially when multiple factors are combined, and the burden of liver fibrosis and fatty liver disease is higher.
