07:38 AM EDT, 10/22/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Coca-Cola Co. (KO.VI), Nestlé (NESN.SW) and Danone (BN.PA) committed to changing recycling claims on their plastic bottles following talks with the European Commission and the Consumer Protection Cooperation network, in line with European Union consumer law. Under the commitments, the companies will amend the recycling claims on their bottle labels to ensure "factually clear and correct information." They will also ensure that labels and marketing materials do not mislead consumers about the environmental benefits of plastic bottles and that digital marketing campaigns reflect the changes, according to a Thursday release. Coca-Cola and Nestlé have already implemented some commitments, particularly those relating to recycling claims in digital campaigns. National consumer protection authorities will monitor implementation and may take enforcement measures against companies that fail to comply. The CPC action was led by the Swedish Consumer Agency and the Hungarian Competition Authority.
