Vita Coco entered its Q3 2026 report priced for near-perfection, with the stock carrying a premium P/E and a strong growth reputation in a fast-expanding coconut water category. Then the reaction hit. Shares fell about 7% to US$59 in the first full session after results, even as quarterly revenue landed at US$243.8 million and net income reached US$35 million.
The expectation gap sits squarely on margins. Management confirmed solid top line progress, yet rising freight and a mix shift toward private label are now pressing on profitability. This challenges the simple growth-at-any-price thesis many holders brought into this print.

Earnings show the headline progress for Vita Coco Company, but investors who care about valuation usually focus on the cash flowing through the business over time. Looking at Vita Coco Company's cash flows alone, the stock could be a solid 30% undervalued.
Bulls argue Vita Coco can keep turning category momentum into durable earnings power as its footprint widens.
"The main factor that has to go right is that Vita Coco Company continues to scale international and private label volumes while managing higher packaging, energy and freight costs without eroding the mid teens net sales growth and high teens adjusted EBITDA margin framework that management targets."
Q3 checks the volume box. International net sales climbed 48% and private label surged very sharply, supported by Copra. Net sales rose 34% and adjusted EBITDA reached US$53 million or 22% of sales, which is above the high teens ambition. However, management now flags Q4 gross margin pressure from freight and mix.
The cautionary view says rising input costs and tight capacity could blunt Vita Coco’s earnings power even while demand looks healthy.
"Higher packaging, energy, domestic logistics costs and ocean freight surcharges could persist or rise further. This would squeeze Vita Coco Company's gross margin and limit the ability to convert category growth into higher net earnings if pricing does not fully offset these inputs."
Freight and logistics are no longer theoretical. Management highlighted container shortages, port congestion and ocean surcharges that tightened service levels and created out of stocks. Q3 gross margin held near 38%. Yet guidance now points to about 33% in Q4, and the stock fell about 7%, suggesting investors are starting to price in this squeeze.
