xETFs launched the xETFs Samsung Group ETF (NASDAQ:SMNG), an actively managed fund designed to give U.S. investors exposure to Samsung Group companies across five industries: technology, financials, consumer and services, industrials, and life sciences.

SMNG is the first U.S.-listed ETF designed specifically to provide access to a portfolio of Samsung Group companies through a single ticker. Its initial portfolio includes Samsung Electronics and Samsung Electro-Mechanics, each with a 20% weighting, followed by Samsung SDI at 7.5%.

Samsung Electronics Ltd. (OTC:SSNLF) is a major player in smartphones, memory chips and televisions, while Samsung Electro-Mechanics supplies advanced package substrates used in AI accelerators and high-performance server chips. Samsung SDI manufactures rechargeable batteries for smartphones, electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

According to xETFs CEO Johnny Wu, Samsung Group companies represent approximately 33% of the combined market capitalization of South Korea’s KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets, with a combined market value of $1.5 trillion.

Quick Context: Samsung’s Broader Investment Footprint

Samsung Group’s investment exposure extends beyond consumer electronics and semiconductors into industries such as biologics, shipbuilding, financial services and batteries. The new ETF aims to capture this broader ecosystem, rather than concentrating solely on Samsung Electronics or using a broad Korea-focused fund.

Its initial 40% combined allocation to Samsung Electronics and Samsung Electro-Mechanics gives investors substantial exposure to technology, including AI-related semiconductor infrastructure. The fund’s actual diversification will depend on its remaining holdings and subsequent portfolio changes.
