Stock of the Day: Is IREN About to Reverse?

Listen to the news

IREN Limited (NASDAQ:IREN) shares traded lower on Friday after being oversold.

This is why IREN is the Stock of the Day.

Most of the time, a stock stays within its normal or typical trading range.

But sometimes, emotional and aggressive sellers push the shares below this range. When this happens, traders say the shares are ‘oversold’.

This can be an important dynamic. Many trading strategies and models are based on the concept of reversion to the mean.

If a stock gets oversold, buyers will enter the market. They will be anticipating a reversion or a move higher. Their buying could put upward pressure on the shares.

There are many ways to determine if a stock or market is oversold.

Many newer traders use too many indicators. They think more information will lead to better decisions.

But this typically isn’t the case. Successful traders keep things simple.

Four indicators appear in the lower part of the chart. They are used by traders to determine if a stock is oversold.

They are the Relative Strength Index (RSI), the Stochastics Indicator, Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), and Rate of Change (ROC).  If the indicator’s signal lines are at or near the bottom, it indicates oversold conditions.

As you can see, they all look very similar.

Using many indicators can complicate trading. These indicators are just different ways to measure the same thing. They are redundant.

A trader may have more success by using just 2 or 3 of these indicators. This way, they can learn the nuances and master them.

This will lead to better results than having numerous indicators that are not completely understood.

IREN Stock Price Activity: IREN shares are trading lower by 2.08% at $24.98 at the time of publication on Friday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
