WSFS Financial shares edged 1.8% higher to about US$78.94 after the Q3 2026 report, a calm move following what was a quietly powerful earnings beat on profitability. The headline outcome was simple. Net income excluding one offs reached US$89.3 million, with basic earnings per share of US$1.75, while trailing twelve month earnings were US$333.2 million on just over US$1.09b of revenue.
Short term traders saw a modest green day. Longer term investors saw something different: a regional bank leaning into higher net profit margins and a P/E of 12.1x that keeps the long game in focus.
Love the clean WSFS Financial earnings beat and that 12.1x P/E, but want a wider bench of banks with strong profitability and disciplined balance sheets? Compare this result with our list of solid balance sheet and fundamentals stocks (25 results).
Earnings are one thing, but investors who care about valuation often want to see what the cash flows are doing beneath the quarterly headlines for WSFS Financial.
Based on WSFS Financial's cash flows alone, the stock could be a clear 29% undervalued.
The upbeat pitch on WSFS Financial rests on richer fee income and a cleaner balance sheet really pulling their weight.
"Growth in Wealth & Trust and Institutional Services, including Corporate Trust and Global Capital Markets, is still building as fee revenue rises at double digit rates and ABS and MBS trustee share moves higher, which can further increase noninterest income and support earnings quality."
Q3 showed higher revenue and a wider trailing profit margin, which aligns with a narrative of a healthier fee mix and disciplined lending. The earnings uplift and firmer margins indicate that fee-focused businesses and relationship lending are already supporting profitability, rather than being only a future aim.
The concern is that funding pressure or a softer Cash Connect contribution could chip away at the WSFS Financial earnings profile.
"WSFS Financial faces rising competition for deposits, with its flagship certificates of deposit priced around 3% while many alternatives are above 4%. If the bank must materially raise deposit rates to keep or win clients, funding costs could move higher and put pressure on net interest margin and net interest income."
So far, the trailing net profit margin sits at 30.5% compared with 27.6% a year earlier, and net income has increased. That pattern indicates that deposit costs have not yet reduced profitability in a way that is clearly reflected in these results.

WSFS Financial recently showed that a stronger margin picture may not settle an investment debate. The real opportunity is finding stocks that could be undervalued before the market catches up.
