On October 23, local time, the US State Department said that due to concerns that the Houthis in Yemen may increase rocket, missile, and drone attacks in the Middle East region, the US will reduce the number of personnel in the four embassies of Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The US State Department said that this personnel adjustment did not involve mandatory evacuation orders. The US embassies in the four countries mentioned above have all previously entered a state of “restricted operation,” and the number of personnel has been reduced accordingly. The embassies will continue to be open after this adjustment. Earlier this week, the US ordered the departure of non-essential diplomats from the Saudi embassy and their families.
