Listen to the news

Key Points

  • Quarterly revenue reached 104.6 trillion won for the third quarter.

  • Long-term agreements cover over 50% of capacity for 2027 and 2028.

  • SK Hynix planned 100 trillion won in fiscal 2026 shareholder returns.

On its third quarter of 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 27, 2026, SK Hynix (NASDAQ:SKHY) announced quarterly revenue reached 104.6 trillion South Korean won, surpassing the 100 trillion won level for the first time, as artificial intelligence (AI) memory demand accelerated. The chipmaker is locking in multiyear customer contracts while returning substantial capital directly to shareholders. Three things management said on the call stand out.

1. Long-Term Contracts Secure Capacity Through 2028

Customer commitments under long-term agreements (LTAs) now cover over half of total capacity for 2027 and 2028, providing predictable cash flow as customers seek guaranteed memory supply for AI workloads.

The volume secured under LTAs currently accounts for more than 50% of our total capacity for 2027 and 2028, establishing a foundation for mid- to long-term profit stability and demand visibility.

2. Capital Allocation Delivers 100 Trillion Won to Shareholders

Management committed to returning over half of free cash flow through massive dividends and share buybacks, funded by operating cash generation and asset sales.

The company has decided to pursue shareholder return of approximately 100 trillion won for the 2026 fiscal year. We plan to execute cash dividends of 30 trillion won or more and share acquisition/cancellations of 60 trillion won or more, including the 40 trillion won announced in August.
-- Kim Woo-Hyun, Chief Financial Officer

3. HBM4 Becomes the Primary Driver in the Fourth Quarter

Mass production of High Bandwidth Memory 4 (HBM4) -- a stacked, high-speed DRAM variant designed for AI hardware -- is accelerating faster than previous generations to capture higher selling prices.

Accordingly, in the fourth quarter, HBM4 is expected to surpass HBM3E in both the share of total HBM shipment volumes and revenue, establishing it as our flagship product.
-- Kim Woo-Hyun, Chief Financial Officer

Looking Ahead

Data center construction is expanding fast as cloud providers build infrastructure, keeping structural memory supply tight.

The global AI data center infrastructure market is expected to grow at a high annual growth rate of 40% until 2030, driven by the commercialization of AI services and the expansion of application areas.
-- Kim Woo-Hyun, Chief Financial Officer

SK Hynix relies on multiyear contracts and disciplined capital spending to protect margins while scaling advanced production.

Our task now is to turn these changes into lasting competitive advantage. We will extend our current leadership in memory, including in HBM, to next-generation products and become the first partner that customers turn to as they prepare for the future.
-- Kwak Noh-Jung, President and Chief Executive Officer
