Oatly Group just dropped its Q3 2026 report and the stock reacted with shock. Shares collapsed 27.2% today to US$8.56, extending a bruising stretch for holders who came in already facing double digit declines over 1, 3 and 12 months.
The numbers tell a more nuanced story. Revenue reached US$243.1m and the business still reported a net loss of US$27.5m, yet adjusted EBITDA for the quarter turned positive. The market is trading the P&L pain. The key question is whether that move ignores an early, fragile improvement in profitability.

Oatly’s bullish story hangs on turning scale and brand spend into sturdier profitability.
"The main thing that has to go right is that Oatly Group continues to turn scale, supply chain efficiencies, and disciplined brand reinvestment into durable gross margin and adjusted EBITDA improvements while managing underperforming regions and free cash flow pressures."
You can see the first pieces lining up. Gross margin reached 34.1% and adjusted EBITDA moved to US$9.4m, both pointing to better unit economics. Europe and International delivered higher constant currency growth and stronger adjusted EBITDA, showing that the model can travel by region even while Greater China and cash burn still weigh on the group.

Bears argue Oatly’s margin fix will buckle under sticky logistics and packaging costs. That concern now has clearer evidence.
"While Oatly Group has recently reported gross margins around the mid 30% level supported by fixed cost absorption and productivity gains, persistent fuel related logistics and packaging cost inflation tied to the Middle East conflict already reduced gross margin by about 100 basis points in Q2 2026. This pressure is expected to remain at a similar level in H2 2026 and could cap future margin expansion and earnings progress."
Q3 gross margin still reached 34.1%, yet management cut 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance to US$16m to US$20m, citing freight and diesel inflation. Positive EBITDA is intact; however, the reduced target shows cost pressure is biting harder than planned.
