Insider Purchases Worth AU$1.22m See Losses As Bhagwan Marine Market Value Drops To AU$101m

Listen to the news

The recent price decline of 11% in Bhagwan Marine Limited's (ASX:BWN) stock may have disappointed insiders who bought AU$1.22m worth of shares at an average price of AU$0.38 in the past 12 months. This is not good as insiders invest based on expectations that their money will appreciate over time. However, as a result of recent losses, their original investment is now worth only AU$813.7k.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Bhagwan Marine Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Non-Executive Chairman Anthony Wooles bought AU$659k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.41 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than AU$0.26 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when insiders have purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price.
