Littelfuse just dropped its Q3 2026 scorecard and the stock immediately jumped 4.4% to about US$404. That reaction is all about one thing: record profitability. Adjusted earnings per share hit US$5.79 and adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation margin reached 28.4%, a powerful shift for a protection and power electronics specialist.
The mood in the market is swinging quickly. Shares were down over the past month, yet today traders are rushing to price in a sharp margin rebuild while the longer record of thin trailing profit still lingers in the background.

Optimists have framed Littelfuse as an execution story on higher value systems, manufacturing changes, and portfolio clean up that should feed through to richer profitability.
"The multiyear plan to rationalize lower value power semiconductor products, close the Allen, Texas fab by 2027 and standardize KPIs across plants gives Littelfuse scope to lift segment margins and expand consolidated EBITDA margin relative to the current mid 20% range."
Q3 puts a clear marker on that roadmap. Adjusted EBITDA margin reached 28.4% while Electronics margin sat around 33.1% even excluding the Dortmund fee. Transportation and Industrial also posted higher profitability. That broad margin lift shows the optimization agenda is not just a plan on paper.

Bears worry Littelfuse will stumble on complex footprint and portfolio changes rather than on demand. The concern is clear.
"Portfolio optimization and the closure of the Allen, Texas power semiconductor fab are expected to lift Electronics profitability by 2027 and add about US$50m of EBITDA by 2030. However, execution risk around SKU rationalization, make versus buy decisions and timing of savings could mean net margins and EBITDA margin expansion fall short of the targets that investors are already treating as base case."
This quarter, Electronics delivered roughly 33.1% adjusted EBITDA margin even excluding the Dortmund fee and group margin reached 28.4%. Those figures suggest the portfolio actions are tracking ahead of schedule, not lagging. The risk has not disappeared though because only about US$5m of the targeted US$50m savings is reflected so far, leaving most of the restructuring still to execute.
Littelfuse recently highlighted how sentiment can change once margins appear in reported results. The opportunity may be to focus on stocks where fundamentals and expectations seem misaligned before sentiment shifts.
