Ribbon Communications stock went into the Q3 2026 release trading at US$1.63, flat on the day after a choppy three months that left the share price down about 24% over 90 days. The market reaction was muted, yet the headline was not. Revenue came in at US$218.71m with a much smaller loss of US$9.12m, which narrowed the quarterly earnings per share deficit to roughly US$0.05.
In the short term, this quarter focused on easing the profit squeeze and demonstrating that recent profitability on a trailing basis is not limited to a single quarter.

Verizon revenue jumped 50% from Ribbon’s first-half run rate. Ask Charlie what Ribbon’s Verizon rebound really signals for 2027.
The upbeat story hinges on Ribbon Communications turning complex telco upgrades into a steadier, higher quality business mix.
"Although the surge in voice modernization bookings and multi year Verizon work suggests a durable need to lower legacy network costs, execution risk around complex deployments and customer restructurings could slow project rollouts and keep Cloud & Edge revenue and associated services margins more volatile than management expects. This may limit earnings leverage."
Q3 Cloud & Edge revenue was US$123m, slightly lower year on year, yet the segment earned a 61.9% margin and US$28m adjusted EBITDA. Verizon related activity and new public sector wins helped offset pressure, so profitability supports the modernization narrative even while top line momentum remains uneven.
The cautious view questions whether Ribbon Communications can escape lower quality revenue mix and heavy carrier dependence.
"Long-term growth in IP Optical is currently leaning on lower margin regions such as India and on subsidy linked U.S. broadband programs like BEAD. Management notes that mix effects already pushed IP Optical gross margin down 600 basis points in Q4 2025. If higher margin North America and EMEA spending does not recover or subsidies are slower than expected, consolidated gross margin and net margins could stay under pressure."
Q3 IP Optical delivered US$96m revenue and a 35.5% margin, with U.S. revenue more than 150% above the prior year and shipments up about 35%. Consolidated non GAAP gross margin of 50.3% still sat below the prior year, so mix headwinds have eased but not disappeared.
