12:49 PM EDT, 10/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The blue-chip Swiss Market Index concluded Friday's trading session 0.36% in the green as investors digested a barrage of economic data prints across key markets and earnings releases. Swiss President Guy Parmelin met with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping during his visit to China to bolster cooperation and bilateral ties. An enhanced free trade deal between the two countries was signed, alongside cooperation agreements related to labor and employment, and research and development. Meanwhile, Switzerland's KOF Economic Barometer fell to 107.6 points in October from 109.1 points in September. "After consecutively increasing over the previous months, the Barometer continues to stay above its medium-term average despite this month's decrease. The outlook for the Swiss economy remains robust," the KOF Swiss Economic Institute said. "On the demand side, both the indicator bundles for foreign demand and private consumption weaken slightly. Among the production side indicators, particularly the indicator bundles for other services and financial and insurance services dampen." Elsewhere, Eurostat's flash data showed that the euro area's gross domestic product grew 0.4% in the third quarter, following a 0.6% rise in the prior three-month period. Meanwhile, provisional data showed that the annual inflation rates in Italy and France rose in October, compared with the previous month, while that in Germany eased. Over to corporates, Landis+Gyr Group (LAND.SW) saw its shares rise 10.06% as it swung to a net income attributable to shareholders of $58.6 million for the fiscal first half from a year-ago attributable net loss of $189.4 million, as it continues with its preparations for a potential US listing. The Swiss energy management and smart metering company's net revenue, on the other hand, declined over the period to $501.4 million from $535.3 million. "We expect a strong second half of FY 2026, supported by the ramp-up of new customer deployments and continued improvements in profitability, as reflected in our increased adjusted EBITDA margin guidance of 15% to 16%," said Chief Financial Officer Davinder Athwal. The Swiss National Bank (SNBN.SW) recorded an interim result of 19.07 billion francs for the third quarter, down from the year-ago 27.93 billion francs, while gross income dropped to 19.17 billion francs from 28.04 billion francs. At closing, the stock added 0.32%.
