Scatec walked into its Q3 2026 release with the stock at NOK84.65 after a choppy few months, slightly higher over the past week but down over 30 days and 90 days. The headline this quarter is not the top line. It is the hit to profitability, with a reported loss of NOK1,003m and basic earnings per share of NOK6.27 in the red, driven by heavy impairments.
Short term traders are reacting to a single print. Longer term holders are weighing whether this profit squeeze is a one quarter reset or the market finally pricing in balance sheet strain.

Scatec’s bullish pitch rests on turning its pipeline into long term cash flow, particularly in Egypt.
"The build out of large platforms in Egypt, including Obelisk, Shadwan, Egypt Aluminium and Energy Valley supported by the new EBRD backed vehicle, creates a path for Scatec to grow long term PPA based cash flows and potentially improve earnings visibility from a concentrated multi gigawatt cluster."
Q3 shows this pathway is real but uneven. Obelisk is fully operational under a 25 year PPA and Shadwan and Dandara have moved into construction, lifting power production 22% and expanding D&C margins. At the same time, heavy Ukraine and Pakistan impairments and a NOK300m cut to Power Production EBITDA guidance pull against that visibility story.
Bears argue that project hiccups and country shocks will keep punching holes in the Scatec plan.
"Guidance cuts in 2026, including a NOK 200 million reduction in the full year Power Production EBITDA midpoint following currency headwinds and a reversed earn out gain, show that Scatec's earnings can be sensitive to factors outside project delivery, which could weigh on EBITDA and net income if similar effects recur."
Q3 largely backs this concern. The Power Production EBITDA midpoint is now NOK300m lower, with drivers that include Philippines reserves market suspension, Pakistan tariff and South Africa connection delays and currency effects. Impairments of around NOK1.15b tied to Ukraine and Pakistan reinforce how macro and regulatory shocks still shape earnings more than pipeline headlines.
