Church & Dwight stock barely flinched on the Q3 2026 release, ticking up about 1% to around US$107 even as the headline told a stronger story than the price move suggests. Organic sales rose 5.1% and adjusted earnings per share landed at US$0.92, ahead of the company’s own outlook.
For short-term traders that modest reaction might feel underwhelming. For anyone with a longer horizon, expanding gross margin to 46.8% and a full year adjusted earnings growth target near 7% keep the focus on whether this household products group can continue compounding from here.

Supporters argue Church & Dwight can widen its earnings base by pushing acquired brands across its global footprint.
"The main thing that has to go right is that Church & Dwight continues to scale brands like ARM & HAMMER, THERABREATH, and Miss Mouth's across channels and geographies while sustaining its evergreen margin and cash generation framework."
Q3 puts some clear ticks against that ambition. Organic sales grew 5.1% with volume up 4.6%, and all three divisions posted organic gains. ARM & HAMMER laundry and litter, THERABREATH, WATERPIK and HERO all took share, while e commerce climbed to 25.9% of consumer sales. Gross margin reached 46.8%, supporting the margin and cash story that bullish holders are watching.

Bearish investors worry that Church & Dwight’s cost inflation will repeatedly eat into profit structure, no matter how hard management leans on productivity.
"Despite Church & Dwight pointing to productivity and mix as margin supports, the estimated 400 basis point gross margin headwind from inflation, tariffs and transportation in Q2 2026 and about US$30m of related cost pressure for 2026 indicate that recurring external shocks may repeatedly soak up efficiency gains and cap net margin and EPS progress."
Q3 gross margin reached 46.8% and full year expansion is still guided at about 100 bps, which counters the idea of immediate margin erosion. The bear case is not invalidated though. Management has lifted 2026 inflation assumptions to about US$150m and flagged elevated promotions, so cost pressure remains a live overhang rather than a past issue.
Church & Dwight just showed how solid execution does not always translate into a dramatic price swing. The real opportunity could sit in stocks where fundamentals and market pricing have drifted apart.
