Bitcoin, XRP, Ethereum Sentiment Tanks but One Coin Is Holding Its Ground

Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) and XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) are seeing increasingly negative sentiment, while Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) comparatively is holding its ground in what analytics firm Santiment calls a contrarian buying opportunity.

Why Sentiment Has Collapsed Across the Market

Santiment Intelligence said Tuesday that sentiment around Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and other major tokens has steadily weakened for nearly two months, with last week’s Binance hack accelerating the decline further.

Bitcoin now shows just 0.69 bullish comments for every bearish one, while XRP sits even lower at 0.61.

Ethereum remains comparatively healthier at 1.14, though enthusiasm has still dropped sharply since September.

According to Santiment, the darkest sentiment periods have historically produced the strongest contrarian opportunities once panic subsides.

If Bitcoin and XRP sentiment stays below 1.0 while prices stop making new lows, that combination has often preceded a mid-term relief rally more reliably than extreme fear alone.

Why Some Traders Are Buying the Dip Despite XRP’s Rough Midterm History

Widely-followed trader Michaël van de Poppe said Tuesday that he’s buying the current dip, arguing sentiment has turned so negative that going long now feels almost irrational, which is exactly when he sees the best opportunity.

He separately flagged Bitcoin’s rejection near $79,000 and subsequent slide back toward $75,000, suggesting Election Day itself could mark a low in a "sell the rumor, buy the news" scenario.

Van de Poppe also noted Ethereum is showing more momentum than Bitcoin right now, even in a relatively weak broader market, pointing to stronger demand building across the Ethereum ecosystem specifically.

That optimism runs up against XRP’s track record on past Election Days.

ChartNerd said that XRP traded at $0.55 in 2018 before dropping 36% to $0.35 over the following eight weeks inside a broader macro bear market.

The pattern repeated in 2022, when XRP traded at $0.41 on Election Day before sliding roughly 22% following FTX’s collapse.
