On the afternoon of November 5, during the 9th China International Import Expo, a special trade matchmaking meeting between China and Europe for medical devices was held in Shanghai. Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations of the People's Republic of China Ling Ji; Vice Minister of Finance Lin Zechang; Liu Jinfeng, Deputy Director of the National Health Commission and Director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Lei Dongne, Deputy Director General of the European Commission's Trade and Economic Security Department; and Ou Sicheng, Swedish Ambassador to China, attended the launch ceremony and delivered speeches. Approximately 200 Chinese and European medical institutions and companies participated. Ling Ji said that holding this matchmaking conference is a practical measure to implement the outcomes and consensus reached at the second regular meeting of the Sino-European Trade and Investment Consultation Mechanism held in October this year and promote an upward balance in trade between China and Europe. China and Europe have mutual needs and complementary advantages in the field of medical equipment procurement, and the prospects for strengthening cooperation are promising. China has always been committed to creating a world-class government procurement business environment and continuously improving market access for European companies in China. We hope that the European side will move in the opposite direction and ensure that Chinese enterprises participate equally in the EU government procurement market. The European side expressed its appreciation and thanks to the Chinese side for hosting this matchmaking meeting and looks forward to full negotiations and reaching a deal between the companies of the two sides. EU companies are optimistic about the potential of China's healthcare market and hope that China will continue to keep the public procurement market open and transparent.
