The Zhitong Finance App learned that the Hong Kong Investment Promotion Department announced on November 6 that Australian clean technology company ClearVue Technologies Limited (ClearVue) has set up a new global R&D base in Hong Kong. The company specializes in converting solar energy absorbed by building facades into renewable energy. Its Hong Kong base will be further expanded in the future to meet growing project management and business development needs in Asia, and focus on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area) as a strategic market.
With support from the Hong Kong Investment Promotion Department, ClearVue announced earlier the establishment of a joint venture with Mainland vacuum glass manufacturer Luoyang Landi Titanium Vacuum Glass Co., Ltd. in Hong Kong. The two sides will cooperate in research and development through this joint venture, combining ClearVue's patented solar glass technology with mainland manufacturing advantages to produce cost-effective power generation glass that can supply electricity to buildings, and the newly established Hong Kong global R&D base will play a key role in this. The Hong Kong Investment Promotion Department has been providing advisory services for ClearVue to set up a business in Hong Kong and to help connect local and international industry stakeholders and investors.
Liu Zhiyuan, Acting Director of Investment Promotion in Hong Kong, said, “We warmly welcome ClearVue's establishment of a global R&D base in Hong Kong. There are many high-rise buildings in Hong Kong, and it is an ideal testing ground for converting glass facades into clean energy power generation devices. The investment fully reflects Hong Kong's unique strengths — seamlessly combining Australia's cutting-edge technology, local R&D capabilities, and the Greater Bay Area's strong manufacturing capabilities. We look forward to ClearVue using Hong Kong as a springboard to promote its innovative solutions and create strong synergy effects in Asia and beyond.”
Doug Hunt, CEO and Managing Director of ClearVue, said, “Hong Kong has everything we need to accelerate our growth in Asia. Strong local demand, a strong engineering talent pool and a perfect construction ecosystem make Hong Kong an ideal base for developing and promoting projects. Through a joint venture established in Hong Kong, we can combine our own technology with mainland manufacturing capabilities to produce cost-effective solar glass; our R&D team also benefits from being able to quickly prototype and test. As the Greater Bay Area project is gradually implemented, we will continue to invest in talent and infrastructure in Hong Kong and use Hong Kong as a strategic gateway to further expand our business in the Asia-Pacific region.”
ClearVue is an Australian-listed clean technology company that incorporates solar technology into building facades and roof surfaces to produce renewable energy and offset the operating carbon footprint of buildings. The company's advanced patented glass technology can maintain the transparency of the glass, allowing the building to produce energy while retaining its aesthetic appearance.
