On November 6, the 2026 China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Conference with the theme of “Empowering China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation, Innovation and Development” was held in Nanning. Chairman Wei Tao of the Autonomous Region, Xu Dachun, Vice Minister of Natural Resources and Director of the China Geological Survey; Francisco da Costa Monteiro, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of East Timor; Yusuf Suleimana, Deputy Minister of Land and Resources of Ghana; and Peng Naus, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Cambodia, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Frank Amoakosin, Governor of Ashanti Province in Ghana, attended. Wei Tao said that international cooperation in the mining industry is an important way to achieve complementary resource advantages of all countries and promote economic and social development. The conference will implement the four major global initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping, conduct in-depth discussions and exchanges, and host events such as project signing, economic and trade promotion, etc., which will strongly promote practical cooperation between China and all parties in the mining industry and at a broader level. As a key non-ferrous metal producing region in China, Guangxi is speeding up the construction of a comprehensive pilot zone for the high-quality development of key metals in Nandan to promote the development of the mining industry towards “green intelligent manufacturing”, driven by artificial intelligence empowerment and the green transformation of the mining industry. We are willing to use this conference as a new starting point to continue to deepen practical cooperation with ASEAN and African countries, jointly promote the upgrading of the mining industry, jointly promote collaborative cooperation in digital intelligence innovation, jointly build a mutually beneficial and win-win partnership, better serve to build a closer China-ASEAN community of destiny, and jointly build an all-weather community of destiny between China and Africa in the new era.
