KUALA LUMPUR: Here is a recap of the announcements that made headlines in Corporate Malaysia.

Astro Asia Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary, Astral Chem Sdn Bhd has been granted iron ore mining rights from the former’s 65% subsidiary, Astral Asia Plantation Sdn Bhd.

Tenaga Nasional Bhd net profit for 1QFY25 rose nearly 48% to RM1.1bn from RM715.7mn a year earlier, supported by foreign exchange gains and lower operating expenses, though partially offset by higher tax expenses.

Sime Darby Bhd said it expects to deliver weaker core financial performance in FY25 compared to the previous year, after posting a 43% decline in net profit to RM193mn in 3QFY25.

Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd net profit rose 11% YoY to RM197.5mn for 4QFY25, thanks to higher net interest income and lower provisions.

IOI Corporation Bhd's net profit for 3QFY25 jumped by 113% YoY to RM262.3mn from RM123.1mn due mainly to higher contribution from the plantation segment.

Malakoff Corporation Bhd posted a net profit of RM34mn for 1QFY25 compared to RM62mn a year ago as revenue fell by RM252.2mn or 11.1% YoY to RM2bn due to lower energy payments from Tanjung Bin Power Sdn Bhd and Tanjung Bin Energy Sdn Bhd.

Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd’s net profit rose 17.4% to RM12.2mn in 1QFY25, compared with RM10.4mn in the year-ago quarter, contributed by both heavy engineering and marine segments.

Star Media Group Bhd recorded revenue of RM59.4mn in 1QFY25, an increase of 12% compared to the same period a year ago while pre-tax profit rose to RM0.7mn compared to a loss of RM0.2mn in 2024, attributed to the better performance from both the radio broadcasting and property development and investment segments.

Hap Seng Plantations Holdings Bhd reported a 38.4% YoY decline to RM22.5mn in net profit for 1QFY25, attributing the drop primarily to a fair value loss on biological assets amounting to RM16.7mn.

MNRB Holdings Bhd posted a lower net profit of RM394.2mn for 1QFY25, compared with RM433.5mn recorded in the preceding year.
