Samaiden wins bid for 99.99-MW solar plant in Johor

KUALA LUMPUR: Samaiden Group Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Samaiden Sdn Bhd (SSB), together with JBB Builders (M) Sdn Bhd (the Consortium), has received a letter of notification (LON) from the Energy Commission for the development of a 99.99-megawatt (MW) large-scale solar (LSS) photovoltaic plant in Segamat, Johor.

In a statement, the renewable energy specialist said the LON was issued on Sept 2, formally acknowledging the Consortium as a shortlisted bidder for the project under the Large-Scale Solar PETRA 5+ programme.

The LSS plant, which will have a maximum export capacity of 99.99 MW, is set to contribute significantly to Malaysia’s RE capacity.

The project will operate under a 21-year solar purchase agreement between Samaiden and Tenaga Nasional Bhd, ensuring a stable and long-term revenue stream.

Samaiden said the plant is scheduled to achieve its commercial operation date by Oct 31, 2027, marking the date when it will begin supplying electricity to the national power grid.
