KUALA LUMPUR: Scientex Packaging (Ayer Keroh) Bhd anticipates the global market sentiment to remain soft in the coming year due to persistent geopolitical uncertainties, inflationary pressures and other external factors.

Having ceased manufacturing operations in Myanmar since June this year, the group said it is currently managing the operational matters arising from the cessation.

"The group remains committed to enhancing its competitiveness and driving sustainable performance in the upcoming financial year," it added as it reported its year-end results in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

In the fourth quarter ended June 30, 2025 (4QFY25), Scientex Packaging's net profit rose slightly to RM7.4mil from RM6.81mil in the year-ago quarter despite a marginal decrease in revenue.

The group reported quarterly revenue of RM176.17mil, down from RM181.84mil in the year-ago quarter. Earnings per share rose to 2.12 sen from 1.94 sen in the comparative quarter.

Scientex Packaging said export sales contributed to RM81.6mil or 46.3% of its revenue, while domestic sales contributed to the remaining RM94.57mil or 53.7%.

The group's operating profit was slightly lower at RM10.41mil compared to RM10.71mil in 4QFY24, owing to impairment of assets of RM1.56mil arising from the cessation of operations in Myanmar.

"Excluding this impact, the group’s operating profit would have increased by 11.8%, driven by cost-saving measures implemented in operations," it said.

Over the 12-month period, the group's net profit was RM26.88mil, down from RM32.55mil in FY24 while revenue dipped to RM712.2mil from RM713.51mil in the previous year.
