Citaglobal land undertakes RM628mil raw water source, flood mitigation project for Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR: Citaglobal Bhd said its wholly-owned subsidiary Citaglobal Land Sdn Bhd has accepted an award from the Water Supply Department for RM628mil, to be the contractor for the dual-function pond for raw water source and flood mitigation Package A project.

In a filing with the stock exchange, Citaglobal said the award is a design and build contract, which includes construction of a weir and raw water pumping station at Sungai Klang, and installation of raw water pipelines from the raw water pumping station at Sg. Klang to Sg. Air Hitam.

The group also undertakes to upgrade and integrate 10 existing ponds into detention and sedimentation systems, construct a side spillway and stilling basin near the Sungai Air Hitam – Sungai Klang confluent, as well as the associated mechanical and electrical works including instrumentation and control system works, and infrastructure works.

It said the contract shalled be completed within 48 months from the date of possession of the site.

With this contract, the group's order book will increase to about RM1.7bil.

According to Citaglobal, the strategic project aims to deliver a dual-function pond that will serve as both a flood mitigation system and a raw water resource, supporting Selangor’s long-term water supply security, reducing flood prone areas and environmental sustainability. 

"It has been classified as a high-priority flood mitigation project implemented under the 12th Malaysia Plan and aims to increase Selangor’s water supply reserve margin to over 15%," it said.
