To mitigate the increase in mountain garbage caused by Mount Everest climbing activities, the Nepalese government is considering charging a fee of 4,000 US dollars for each person who climbs Mount Everest from the Nepalese side to clean up the garbage left behind along the way, especially at higher altitudes. According to some sources, the Nepalese government intends to replace the Mount Everest garbage clean-up deposit policy previously implemented with this. According to this deposit policy, each climber is required to pay a deposit of 4,000 US dollars to the Nepalese side before starting the Everest summit itinerary, but as long as they bring back at least 8 kg of garbage, they can get the deposit back.
