Tadawul Shares Plunge on Tuesday Amid Geopolitical Tensions

08:23 AM EST, 12/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Tadawul All Share Index closed Tuesday in the red at 1.03% lower as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East dampened investor sentiment. Reuters reported that a Saudi Arabia-led coalition launched an airstrike in Yemen's Mukalla port. The attack was made following two ships arriving at the Yemeni port, unloading weapons and combat vehicle units for the separatist military movements in the country. "The Kingdom also affirms its commitment to the security, stability, and sovereignty of Yemen, and affirms its full support for the president of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government. The Kingdom reaffirms that the Southern cause is a just cause that has historical and social dimensions, and that the only path to resolve it is through dialogue within a comprehensive political solution in Yemen, and among all Yemeni parties, including the Southern Transitional Council," The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. In other news, US President Trump warned of another attack in Iran if the latter restores its weapons program. Further, Trump also discussed Hezbollah and the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Back at home, Chubb Arabia Cooperative Insurance (SASE:8240) entered an agreement to deliver insurance coverages to Saudi Electricity Co. (SASE:5110) for three years and two months. Chubb Arabia closed 2.69% higher, while Saudi Electricity edged down at 0.64%. Meanwhile, Alinma Retail REIT Fund (SASE:4345) gained 0.89% as it will repurchase 10 million cash units. The bought-back units will be used as treasury units for possible swap transactions.
