The Israeli government threatened to suspend the activities of some aid organizations in the Gaza Strip from January 1, 2026. EU officials said on December 31 that the move was tantamount to cutting off “life-saving” supplies for local people. European Commissioner Hagia Rabib, responsible for emergency preparedness, crisis management and equality, posted on social media on December 31: “The EU has made it clear that the Non-Governmental Organization Registration Law cannot be implemented in its current form, and all barriers to entry for humanitarian aid must be lifted. International humanitarian law is unquestionable, and aid must reach those in need.”
