Nor Zahidi continues as MPC member

PETALING JAYA: Bank Negara Malaysia has reappointed Nor Zahidi Alias as an external member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC).

The appointment is for a three-year term, effective Jan 1, 2026.

In a statement, the central bank stated Nor Zahidi has been an external member of the MPC since Jan 1, 2021.

The MPC now has 10 members comprising seven central bank members including governor Datuk Sri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour and three external members.

The MPC is responsible for formulating monetary policy and deciding on policies for the conduct of monetary policy operations.

Nor Zahidi was previously with the Malaysian Rating Corp Bhd as its chief economist.

He also worked at The New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd, Kuala Lumpur City Securities, Alliance Merchant Bank and MCIS Zurich Insurance.
