The Secretary for Transport and Logistics of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Chen Meibao, said today that there have been nearly 2,000 applications and nearly 400 reservations. It is believed that during the holidays, “Guangdong Bus Southbound” will be particularly popular. As more applications are approved one after another, more participants will make reservations to Hong Kong according to their travel needs and plans. Chen Meibao pointed out that convenient cross-border transportation can further promote Hong Kong's integration into the overall national development agenda. The SAR government is making every effort to promote the North Ring Road and the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Railway project, fully open up the railway networks between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, and make good use of mainland capacity and resource construction, including adopting mainland construction processes and introducing innovative machinery and construction technology from the mainland to effectively reduce costs and shorten construction periods.
