In the early morning of January 3, local time, explosions were heard one after another in various parts of the Venezuelan capital Caracas. An air defense alarm was sounded locally. According to eyewitness video, several suspected US military “Chinugan” helicopters are flying low over Caracas. According to local media reports, explosions were heard from military facilities in southern Caracas, port facilities north of Caracas, a military base in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and an airport in the northern states of La Guaira and Miranda. There are currently no official statements from Venezuela and the US.
