Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez has called for “proof of life” for President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, following their capture during a U.S. strike.

What Happened: The U.S. initiated a large-scale strike on Venezuela’s capital, Caracas, in the early hours of Saturday. The attack led to the capture of President Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. Later President Donald Trump announced the news of the strike and capture on Truth Social.

Trump’s post read, “The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country.”

Reacting to the attack, Rodriguez expressed her shock and anger, demanding to know the whereabouts of Maduro and Flores.

According to the TeleSUR English, Rodriguez stated, “In the face of this brutal attack we at this moment do not know the place in which the President Nicolás Maduro is, along with his wife, so we are demanding President Donald Trump a proof of life of President Nicolaas Maduro and also the first Lady Cilia Flores.”
