US Governor Waltz of Minnesota announced on Monday that he will not seek re-election. Previously, fraud charges involving multiple state government plans in the state caused a huge political storm, and most of the defendants were immigrants of Somali origin. “Over the past few years, an organized crime group has tried to take advantage of our state's generosity. Despite the progress we have made in the fight against fraudsters, we now see that an organized political action group is trying to use this crisis for profit,” Waltz, 61, said in a statement announcing the decision. Waltz co-partnered with former Vice President Harris to represent the Democratic Party and was elected governor of Minnesota twice. He also said in a statement: “In September of last year, I announced that I would be seeking a historic third term as governor. I have every confidence that if I do my best, I will succeed. But after some thought with my family and team during the holidays, I came to the conclusion that I can no longer fully commit to the political campaign.”
