On Monday morning, senior funding officials in Congress announced a funding package containing three bills. The leadership of both houses of the Senate and House of Representatives plans to push for the passage of the bill before the January 30 deadline for the government shutdown. The bill will provide financial support to the Department of Energy, the Department of Commerce, the Department of the Interior, the Department of Justice, as well as water projects, the US Environmental Protection Agency, and federal research programs until September 30, the end of this fiscal year. This compromise plan is the result of negotiators from the Appropriations Committee of the Senate and House of Representatives. The consultation was based on the agreement reached last month on the total amount of funding.
