US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright told the media that after the Trump administration forcibly abducted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela's debt to ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil was not a top priority for the Trump administration. Wright said, “Venezuela's huge debt to ConocoPhillips and Exxon is real and will need to be repaid in the future. But this is a long-term issue, not a short-term issue.” Wright said that the Trump administration's top priority is to stabilize Venezuela. “We need to use the revenue from oil sales to stabilize the Venezuelan economy, stop the collapse of the Bolívar, and prevent Venezuela from becoming a failed country,” the energy minister said.
