Dow Gains 100 Points; PepsiCo Posts Upbeat Earnings

U.S. stocks traded higher this morning, with the Dow Jones index gaining around 100 points on Tuesday.

Following the market opening Tuesday, the Dow traded up 0.20% to 49,508.59 while the NASDAQ gained 0.26% to 23,654.18. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.09% to 6,984.74.

Materials shares gained by 1.1% on Tuesday.

In trading on Tuesday, financial stocks fell by 0.5%.

Top Headline

PepsiCo, Inc. (NASDAQ:PEP) posted better-than-expected fourth-quarter results.

The company reported fourth-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $2.26, beating the analyst consensus estimate of $2.24. Quarterly sales of $29.34 billion (+5.6% year over year) outpaced the Street view of $28.972 billion.

  • Tian Ruixiang Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:TIRX) shares shot up 110% to $0.16 after the company announced a transformative strategic agreement with a prominent global digital asset investor and industry trailblazer.
  • Shares of Fatpipe Inc (NASDAQ:FATN) got a boost, surging 61% to $2.96 after the company reported a year-over-year increase in third-quarter financial results.
  • Volato Group Inc (NYSE:SOAR) shares were also up, gaining 51% to $0.92.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • Massimo Group (NASDAQ:MAMO) shares dropped 60% to $1.27 after the company outlined a potential technology acquisition. The company said it signed a non-binding letter of intent to acquire FST Development Company Limited, a technology firm focused on AI-powered hardware systems.
  • Shares of Fubotv Inc (NYSE:FUBO) were down 26% to $1.68 after the company reported fourth-quarter financial results and announced a reverse stock split.
  • Gartner Inc (NYSE:IT) was down, falling 29% to $143.55 after the company issued fourth-quarter financial results and issued FY26 guidance

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded up 1.1% to $62.83 while gold traded up 6.1% at $4,936.80.

Silver traded up 13.1% to $87.060 on Tuesday, while copper rose 3.9% to $6.0545.

Euro zone

European shares were lower today. The eurozone's STOXX 600 fell 0.3%, while Spain's IBEX 35 Index fell 0.4%. London's FTSE 100 dipped 1%, Germany's DAX slipped 0.2% and France's CAC 40 fell 0.5% during the session.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed higher on Tuesday, with Japan's Nikkei surging 3.92%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gaining 0.22%, China's Shanghai Composite rising 1.29% and India's BSE Sensex gaining 2.54%.

Economics

The Logistics Manager's Index surged to 59.6 in January, recording the highest level in seven months, and compared to 54.2 in December.
